Hello Anne,
I hope this email finds you well.
My name is Rosalind Hinks, my father Kenneth Johnson worked for many years at RRE in Malvern. He joined immediately after the war having been an RAF Pilot Navigator flying Liberators in Coastal Command based in Reykjavik. During his service he received the DFM presented to him by the King at Buckingham Palace during the War. As you can already tell I am very proud of him just as you are of your father.
I was told about your campaign to get the true recognition the Radar men deserve by Karen Hill, maiden name , whom I believe you went to school with. Karen and I are second cousins.
I have submitted a photo of my dad showing him and some colleagues at RRE, to the website but I will attach it again here too. Unfortunately I don’t know when it was taken and can’t ask Dad as he sadly passed away in 2010. I don’t know anything about what he did at RRE as like everyone there he did not talk about his work, I just think it is very special that he used Radar in his time in the RAF and then went to work at RRE.
Please do contact me anytime if I can be of help with the project in any way, it would be my pleasure to do so.
Kind regards,
Ros Hinks
